This article will cover how to install the custom SWG Launcher. This covers version 1.5.

Before installing, you need to make sure you have all of the TRE files. There 51 in total. 26 are from SWG installation disks and the other are from SWGEmu.

I will provide another article outlining where to get the SWGEmu TRE files if you do not have them.

Step 1: Acquire the download file. Go to www.swgresurrection.com, and click "Download Launcher".

Step 2: Run the installer, and accept all defaults. You CANNOT change the installation folder/directory. It must be c:\swgresurrection.

Step 3: After installing, you will be prompted for the path (or to browse) for your folder where your TRE files are stored. Please select the location where you have all 51 of your

TRE files. This will copy the TRE files to the SWG Resurrection Launcher's TRE file location (c:\swgresurrection\tre\). If for any reason, you have any issues copying the TRE files using this tool, you can manually copy and paste the files into the SWG Resurrection TRE file location.

Please note: This will delete ALL files in the c:\swgresurrection\tre folder. You CANNOT copy from c:\swgresurrection\tre to c:\swgresurrection\tre. If you are re-installing you need to copy the TRE files somewhere else, like a c:\backup_tre folder or ,better yet, storage off of your computer like an external backup drive. We would recommend taking the 51 TRE files and zipping them up using 7zip or infozip, and saving them somewhere just in case. You will need these for playing any SWGEmu server.

Once completed, you will see it say you have copied AT LEAST 51 TRE files. In the picture below, it says 52 because it includes the one custom SWG Resurrection TRE file at time of writing this article: resurrection_01.tre. All TRE files go in the SWG Resurrection TRE file location (c:\swgresurrection\tre).

Edit -  Note: There are about 26 TRE files that the SWGEmu project puts out. That is, 26 out of the 51 total there are. If you need the 26 SWGEmu TRE files, we can provide those. The other TRE files, by law and SOE, you must acquire by installing the SWG Client. You can pickup an old SWG disk on Ebay usually for less than $20.00. You ONLY need the TRE files from that installation. You do not need anything else.

If you need to obtain the SWGEmu provided 26 TRE files, see this article for a download link from the SWG Resurrection Project.

Click continue at top right.

Step: 4 The launcher will load. You will not see that copy TRE prompt again. That only runs once, on the first run of the Launcher. The launcher should auto-update itself and pull the latest updates from our servers. If not, click the "update" button.

On the launcher, you see a few buttons and options.

1) Server status: Red=live server offline, Green=live server online and ready to play

2) Status on top of progress bar: Shows you what the launcher is doing (updating, etc)

3) Live Announcements: Shows you announcements from the project much like it was in SWG.

4) Launch Button: Play the game!

5) Update: Force an update (note: you cannot force an update if the game is running or if an update is already occuring. You must wait. It will autoupdate each time you start by default.)

6) Exit: Close the launcher

Step 5: Configure your game client. Click Tools->Client Setup

You can set your resolution and other settings here. Under sound, you can disable sound so be careful. Most people use the settings as below (but you have to configure for your video card depending on your hardware!)

Window with borderless window selected will allow the client to run in a window mode but full screen. You can alt-tab out to do other stuff as needed. Most people play in the fashion. This also allows you to easily run multiple copies of the game.

Under game, most people want to skip the long intro movie that plays. Select "skip intro sequence" to do this.

That should do it for configuration. If the game fails to start, check your resolution.

Ready to play:

When you see the words: Client Ready To Play in green, that means you have all needed TRE files, and it is ready to launch!

Final Thoughts:

If the game doesn't load its usually one or two things.

Check:

1)That you have all 51 + custom TRE files. Run the updater. Copy the TRE files if you are missing them.

2) Make sure you have resurrection_live.cfg in c:\swgresurrection. If you are missing ANY .cfg files, you can re-obtain them by re-installing the launcher. Make sure you backup

your profile directory if so, so you do not lose you macros, and character settings.

3) Make sure in this CFG program that you have the resolution set correctly for your video card. For troubleshooting, turn graphics all the way down and disable sound. Older computers can have this issue. This game is 10+ years old so almost any modern computer can run the game perfectly fine.
